Each and everyone in this world would at least have one aspiration to achieve in their lives. "nurse, nurse, nurse" guess what ? that's my aspiration. My aspiration will not be exciting for others because it is just not grand but to me , my aspiration had satisfied me more than enough. As long as I grab hold of my achievement I will be as happy as a lark. I am so grateful to god for being a light and guidance of choosing my career in future.
This marvelous aspiration came to my mind at the age of twelve. Last year was a year of many pleasant and unpleasant memories. Most of them were unpleasant. One of the incidents gave me both pain and light to my career. I fractured my wrist badly ,till now I still cannot recall what happened that I fractured my wrist and how weird could it be! I remembered that after church I had this unbearable pain in my wrist that I had to miss tuition for that day. For two days god gave us, I did not attended school to add on PSLE was on the way and I missed a lot of lessons. As my parents thought it was just a normal pain they did not bother much but as days go by they saw me struggle in pain. 'Can you just believe it'? I cannot even hold a tissue packet. Upon seeing me in pain, my parents rushed me to the Alexander hospital at about 9:00 am. My father was a great helping hand to me at the point of time. I am very grateful to him for making appointments with the doctor and also paying huge amount of money for my consultation fees. After thirty minutes I got my got my appointment with the doctor. I was whispering a prayer that my injury should not be serious. 'Sangheetha' the doctor from room 7 called out my name. she asked me to take a seat and did some inquiries of how I got the pain on my wrist as though she was a CID. After her investigation she asked me to proceed to the X- ray theatre to take a X - ray. As this was my first experience in the X-ray theatre a chill went down my spine as I entered in. I was given my X- ray results and asked to wait outside my doctor's room. 'Sangheetha' again my name was being called by the doctor. The doctor told me my results and asked me to proceed to room 9 to put my bandage.
That's when two nurses came in like angels in heaven. They gave me permission to enter the room and greeted me with a warm and pleasant smile. They asked what happened and also gave me good encouraging words to get well soon. They gave me a pain killer injection too. That's when I started to admire that occupation. Later the doctor posted me to kk hospital for my appointment because they do not specialize on children. For my next few appointments I was present in KK hospital. I noticed many sick patients. The nurses greeted them and talked to them nicely with a wide smile on their faces. I thought to myself why not be a nurse? and now I have decided to be someone who takes good care of people and serve the nation .
How interesting could my occupation be? not only being a nurse is good , the salary is also good which enables me to support my family and myself. I want to be a staff nurse .In order to pursue my dreams I believe I should do well in my examinations. I cannot wait to be a nurse to take care of my patients. I have faith in myself that i can achieve my aspiration and work in NUH OR SGH.
